What does ClarityHeat actually do?
ClarityHeat takes the text from your HVAC or heat pump quote and rewrites
it in plain English. We explain equipment terms, scope of work, and what
seems clear vs. what seems vague — without judging pricing, contractors,
or equipment choices.
Decode my quote to see how it works.
Will you tell me if my quote is "good" or "bad"?
No. We don't evaluate pricing, contractor quality, or whether a quote is
"worth it." We only explain the wording so you can understand what's being
proposed. Pricing depends on your home, local labor rates, and many other
factors we can't assess remotely.
Is my quote stored or shared with anyone?
No. Your quote is processed once to generate the explanation, then
immediately discarded. We don't build a database of quotes, and we don't
sell or share your information with contractors or anyone else.
Can I use this for ductless mini-split quotes?
Yes. The decoder works for ducted heat pumps, ductless mini-splits, hybrid
systems, and traditional AC + furnace setups. Just paste the main text
describing equipment and scope.

Does this replace an HVAC professional?
Absolutely not. ClarityHeat is educational only. We don't design systems,
certify code compliance, size equipment, or replace licensed professionals.
We just help you understand the language in your quote so you can have
better conversations with contractors.
What should be included in an HVAC quote?
Most clear quotes include: equipment details (brand, model, size), scope
of work (what they'll actually do), electrical and ductwork notes, permits
and disposal, warranties, and payment terms.
Read our full guide: What should be in an HVAC quote.
What are common red flags in HVAC quotes?
Common clarity issues include: very vague equipment descriptions, "ductwork
as is" with no inspection, electrical work marked "TBD" with no range, no
mention of permits or disposal, and warranties not clearly described.
See our guide: Common HVAC quote red flags.
How long does it take to decode a quote?
Most quotes are decoded in under 30 seconds. The tool processes your text,
translates technical terms, and generates a structured breakdown with
questions you can ask your contractor.
Can I see examples before I paste my own quote?
Yes! We have a library of example HVAC quotes
showing how different types of estimates look when decoded into plain English.
What does SEER2 mean on my quote?
SEER2 is a measure of cooling efficiency — like "miles per gallon" for air
conditioning. Higher SEER2 means less electricity used for the same cooling,
but it usually costs more upfront.
Full explanation: SEER2 explained simply.
What's the difference between inverter and single-stage?
Single-stage systems are either fully on or fully off. Inverter (variable-speed)
systems can ramp power up or down smoothly, usually offering better comfort
and efficiency.

Is ClarityHeat free to use?
Yes. The decoder tool is free for homeowners. We don't charge for decoding
quotes, and we don't upsell you to contractors or equipment vendors.
